A Year of Breaking Barriers

Nature belongs to everyone. Yet, for too long, the outdoors has been filled with physical and informational barriers that keep people from fully experiencing the beauty of the natural world.

That is exactly why Outdoor Access Solutions was born.

As we reflect on our first incredible year, we want to take a moment to share our story, celebrate the milestones we’ve achieved, and outline our vision for a truly inclusive outdoors.

A Vision Built on Collaboration

At the heart of Outdoor Access Solutions is a powerful partnership between co-founders Enock Glidden and Alexandria Sukeforth.

We didn’t just build this company alongside each other; we built it because of each other. Our journey began with a chance connection on Instagram when Alex reached out regarding trail access for someone in her community. From there, Enock shared his goal of turning his existing advocacy work into a formal business.

By combining Enock’s lived experience as a wheelchair user and his expertise in trail accessibility with Alex’s strategic business vision, lived experience with Autism, and practical expertise as a Certified Direct Support Professional and 1:1 nature-based aide, we found the exact formula needed to drive change.

Outdoor Access Solutions isn’t just a business venture for us. It is a shared, deeply personal mission to ensure that no one is left at the trailhead.

Our Year-End Recap: What We’ve Built Together

While we are just getting started, this past year has been nothing short of transformative. Here is a look at what Enock, Alex, and our amazing community have accomplished together:

  • Laying the Groundwork: We officially launched our consulting services, dedicated to helping parks, land trusts, and organizations make their spaces welcoming for all.
  • On-the-Ground Assessments: We spent countless hours on the trails conducting comprehensive accessibility audits, providing actionable, real-world solutions for trail managers and businesses.
  • Community Education: We led workshops and speaking engagements to shift the conversation around outdoor accessibility, moving past basic ADA/ABA compliance toward true, holistic inclusion.
  • Building Partnerships: We forged incredible relationships with local Maine organizations and national partners who share our commitment to breaking down barriers.

Looking Ahead

As we step into the new year, our momentum is only growing. We are expanding our assessment frameworks, planning more community outreach, and officially introducing OAS Inclusive Learning. This new professional development and training service will cover everything from disability etiquette to specialized outdoor topics, even allowing attendees to earn Continuing Education Units (CEUs).

Above all, we will continue to advocate for spaces where everyone—regardless of ability—can find their own adventure.

Thank you to everyone who has supported Enock, Alex, and the mission of Outdoor Access Solutions this year. We cannot wait to see you out on the trails, in the classroom, and anywhere else you might need us!
